Statement
Origin
TextForSale.com,
the invention of SWAP Technology and its services
were intended to act as an online book referral service
for college and university students in North America.
SWAP Technology and TextForSale.com do not deal with
the transaction processing or fulfillment of any book
sales that transpire between students buying or selling
their new or used textbooks. This service commenced
operations via the internet on February 2000.
During
the initial planning and implementation of TextForSale.com,
the goal was to provide a facility for college and
university students to buy and sell used textbooks.
This is still the goal and forward vision of TextForSale.com.
Present
Implementation
SWAP
Technology released the third version of TextForSale.com
via the Internet on August 2001. This release was
both designed and implemented by SWAP Technology to
enhance the service of TextForSale.com for its clients.
The features of this version allow for the following:

Geographic
search scope capabilities: clients are able
to limit their search results to a specific geographic
region, whether it be North America, their country,
their province / state, their city (only for Canadians),
or their school.

Enhanced book search results:
The book search results now provide the client with
prices and contact information of other students,
book stores in their local area, and online book
merchants.

Acceptance
of affiliate programs: Through affiliate programs
several online merchants were selected by TextForSale.com
to participate in our price comparison engine. Through
the inclusion of the online retailers, clients have
the best chance of finding the most reasonably priced
textbooks whether or not another client is selling
these textbooks.

Partnership
agreements:
These agreements allow for interested third parties
to become partners for TextForSale.com. Students'
associations, book stores, and co-branders have
the opportunity to join with TextForSale.com to
enhance and strengthen the service that TextForSale.com
provides to its clients.
Future
vision
The
goal of TextForSale.com is to build the largest network
of new and used books. Targeting students' associations
across North America TextForSale.com will make partnerships
enabling schools to participate in the TextForSale.com
used book referral service. SWAP Technology has created
a strong infrastructure for this facility. By raising
awareness and promoting TextForSale.com to clients
and partners, TextForSale.com will exceed all goals.
